The British House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) is a small, cute bird about 15 cm long with a wingspan of around 20 cm. Males have a distinctive appearance with a grey crown, chestnut brown nape and back streaked with black, pale grey underparts, and a prominent black bib on the throat and chest. Their cheeks are grey with white patches near the eyes. Females and juveniles are more brownish, with sandy brown and grey streaked plumage, lacking the black bib and chestnut head pattern. They have a pale wing-bar and a more uniform brownish-grey coloration overall. House Sparrows are closely associated with human habitats, often nesting in buildings
