This colourway has evolved from the original pink and yellow Flamboyant Cuttlefish dyed for Perth Yarn Fest in 2016, becoming one of my nudibranch series (a charitable edition with ALL profits to a women’s shelter for International Women’s Day in March 2017), and returning as a cross between “Rosy Maple Moth” (2015) and “Ornamental Flower” (2018).
Each batch over the years has been different, and this final one includes some orange speckles. Apparently orange should have been part of it all along but who knew?!?
And these days we give our charitable donations privately so good causes benefit whether or not you choose to buy from us.
This soft smooth sock yarn is 75% superwash merino for softness and warmth and 25% nylon for enhanced durability. Approximately 420 metres per 100g skein. Suitable for 2-3mm needles.
The upcycled version is spun from leftovers at the mill and is almost identical to the platinum sock. It is equally soft but, rather than the extreme smoothness of the platinum base, it has a cosier, almost fluffier texture. In terms of colour, both variants have taken the dye identically and I can only tell them apart visually because I labelled them!
You could pair this with “Green Eyed Countess”, which is also now discontinued….
