The Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria) is one of the most recognisable mushrooms, famous for its bright red cap dotted with white warts. Widely distributed across temperate and boreal forests of the Northern Hemisphere, it forms symbiotic partnerships with birch and conifer trees. It typically appears from late summer onwards. It is highly poisonous, containing psychoactive compounds causing hallucinations, stomach cramps, and nausea if ingested; fatalities are very rare.
