Flower Fairies on mermaid sparkle sock inspired by Cicely Mary Barker’s classic illustrations. My grandmother loved these and had several books. They were published over 100 years ago, just after WW1, their whimsical depiction of cherubic floral children must have been aspirational and optimistic after all the suffering and loss of menfolk. I rather like the use of flowers as inspiration.
It is a superwash treated 4ply sock weight with 75% merino wool for softness and warmth, 10% iridescent translucent mermaid sparkle for ethereal beauty, and 15% nylon for strength and durability. Around 400 metres per 100g skein. Suitable for 2-3mm needles.
