Crocuses in the snow. Scattered glimpses of purples on a cool white background.
It is superwash treated 4ply sock yarn with 75% merino wool for softness and warmth and 25% nylon for enhanced durability. It is suitable for approximately 2-3mm needles. About 420 metres per 100g skein.
This upcycled yarn is spun from the same high quality merino as standard platinum sock. It uses leftovers from the mill, saving perfectly good wool from being wasted, and is virtually identical to the regular version. It is equally soft but, rather than the extreme smoothness of the platinum base, it has a very slightly cosier texture.
They are almost indistinguishable and I can only be sure which is which because I labelled them, but the upcycled has slightly more purple speckles and less white. (If it helps, Mads likens it to a blended whisky rather than a single malt!) The upcycled is, of course, better for the environment.
This yarn is presented as a skein. If you would like it caked then this adds 24h to the dispatch time and costs £2. You can purchase this service here:
