The Ballerina Waxcap (Porpolomopsis calyptriformis), is found in unimproved grasslands in the UK. Its distinctive sharply conical, flared cap is pink, resembling the tutu of a pirouetting dancer. The gills are waxy and pale pink, while the stem is elegant, light and smooth. Favoured habitats include old meadows, pastures, and churchyards that are low in nutrients. The ballerina waxcap is considered vulnerable due to habitat loss and is now protected in many regions.
