This is a multi-layered dye creation, and is very labour intensive. Firstly, the base yarn is dyed a very saturated bright yellow.
Once fixed, a second layer of four different warmer yellows (sand, gold, butterscotch, mustard) are overlaid in a faux random pattern.
Finally, speckles of brown and orange are added before a third fixation completes the process. The result is a depth and intensity that reflects the stunning beauty of real sunflowers.
It's a superwash treated 4ply sock yarn that's soft and smooth. It's spun from 75% merino wool for softness and warmth and 25% nylon for enhanced durability. It is suitable for approximately 2-3mm needles. About 420 metres per 100g skein.
