About the Fish

The Giant Pink Black Eye Oranda is one of the most unusual ornamental varieties of fancy goldfish. The combination of soft pink hues against its jet-black eyes gives it a rare charm and a gentle, almost whimsical appearance. Its most defining feature is its pink colouration with almost translucent scales. Contrasting beautifully with this softness are the deep, nearly spherical black eyes. This colour contrast draws immediate attention to the face and gives the fish an innocent, doll-like expression.

The wen, its unusually shaped head, usually takes on the same pink color as the body, though some specimens may show slight marbling or paler highlights as the fish ages. The fins are long, delicate, and veil-like, trailing behind in slow, rhythmic motion creating a sense of underwater grace. These graceful fins, however, also make the fish less agile and slower than common goldfish varieties, which is why it thrives best in peaceful, low-current aquariums.

These fish are known for their calm personality, interacting gently with tankmates, often exploring the aquarium with curious, deliberate movements. Its social nature makes it an engaging presence, and many owners describe their Orandas as expressive and even capable of recognising their keepers. Its quiet beauty captures the aesthetic ideals of traditional ornamental fish breeding: harmony of form, balance of colour, and dignified movement. Watching one glide through a well-planted aquarium is a serene and almost meditative experience.
