This is a multi-layered dye creation, and is very labour intensive. Firstly, the base yarn is dyed a very saturated bright yellow.
Once fixed, a second layer of four different warmer yellows (sand, gold, butterscotch, mustard) are overlaid in a faux random pattern.
Finally, speckles of brown and orange are added before a third fixation completes the process. The result is a depth and intensity that reflects the stunning beauty of real sunflowers.
It's a superwash treated aAran weight yarn that's soft and cosy. It's spun from 100% merino wool suitable for approximately 5-6mm needles. About 166 metres per 100g skein.
