The Tussar Silk Moth belongs to the Antheraea genus, and their caterpillars produce wild silk that can be collected from forests. Tussar silk is more textured than that produced by the domesticated silk moth, and is a deep gold colour. Varieties are produced in many countries, including China, India and Japan.
It is a soft and smooth sock (4ply/fingering) weight yarn spun from 75% superwash merino wool with 25% mulberry silk for a luxurious drape and sheen. Around 400 metres per 100g skein. Suitable for 2-3mm needles.
