This is a multi-layered dye creation, and is very labour intensive. Firstly, the base yarn is dyed a very saturated bright yellow.
Once fixed, a second layer of four different warmer yellows (sand, gold, butterscotch, mustard) are overlaid in a faux random pattern.
Finally, speckles of brown and orange are added before a third fixation completes the process. The result is a depth and intensity that reflects the stunning beauty of real sunflowers.
It is superwash treated chunky/bulky single ply yarn with 80% merino wool and 20% nylon. It is suitable for approximately 8-10mm needles. About 70 metres per 100g skein.
